Dr. Stanton is a researcher, clinician, and educator. Research findings from Dr. Stanton’s laboratory has discovered that glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase G6PD) is essential for cell survival and decreased G6PD likely plays a central role in the development of diabetes and diabetic complications. Dr. Stanton has many leadership roles at Harvard Medical School and Joslin Diabetes Center and has lectured worldwide. Dr. Stanton is the author of many original articles, chapters, reviews, and editorials.
