Biography

A cardiologist and internist who’s been in practice for 35 years, Dr. Sullivan remains on the board of trustees of the Massachusetts Medical Society and serves on two of its committees. He has also held a number of hospital medical staff positions and for 11 years, was an associate medical director of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. During his tenure as president of the Massachusetts Medical Society, Dr. Sullivan spearheaded the creation of the Continuity of Care Record, a portable electronic health data summary. He was the founding chair of the AMA e-Medicine Advisory Committee and currently represents the AMA on the Physician EHR Coalition, which seeks to promote the adoption of electronic health records in the medical community.
