Biography

Harold Szerlip is Professor of Medicine at the University of North Texas. He is Course Director for the renal and cardiovascular pathophysiology blocks. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Critical Care. He is recognized as a specialist in hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension. Dr. Szerlip graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco and then returned to Penn for his training in nephrology. He serves on the USMLE step 3 development committee as well as the Internal Medicine In-Training Examination writing committee. He was a member of the American Society of Nephrology’s task force on increasing interest in Nephrology as a career. He is on the editorial boards of Chest, Clinical Journal of The American Society of Nephrology, Clinical Nephrology and CardioRenal Medicine.. He has published more than 100 articles, chapters and abstracts. His main areas of interest are acute kidney injury in critically ill patients, acid-base electrolytes disturbances, chronic kidney disease, complicated hypertension and medical education.
