Biography

Dr. Nannan Thirumavalavan is a fellowship-trained and board-certified urologist who specializes in male infertility, microsurgery, sexual dysfunction and men’s health. He is an expert in penile implants and vasectomy reversals and is University Hospitals’ Chief of Male Reproductive and Sexual Health. Dr. Thirumavalavan attended the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences for his undergraduate degree and then went on to complete medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Urology at Boston Medical Center. He then completed a National Institutes of Health sponsored fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas prior to joining University Hospitals in 2019. He has contributed significantly to the field of men’s health with numerous journal articles and book chapters on topics ranging from penile implants, infertility, and varicocele repair. He is also an invited reviewer for major medical journals, such as Fertility and Sterility, Sexual Medicine, and the International Journal of Impotence Research. He teaches and mentors fellows, resident urologists, and medical students.
