Biography

Amy K. Weimer, MD, FACP, FAAP (she/her) is an Associate Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA. She received her medical degree from UC San Diego in 1999 and completed her dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2003. In 2016, Dr. Weimer co-founded the UCLA Gender Health Program, wherein she has served as medical director since its inception. The program now comprises over 50 team members and has cared for thousands of patients. Clinically, Dr. Weimer provides primary care and hormone management for patients of all ages. Dr. Weimer is highly involved in education to medical professionals at all levels. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and online publications focused on various aspects of gender-affirming care. Her research interests involve patient-centered research on experiences within the health care setting; understanding and meeting patient goals; and optimizing effectiveness of gender-affirming hormone therapy.
