Biography

Lawrence S. Weisberg is professor of medicine and head of the Division of Nephrology at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Cooper University Hospital, in Camden. He received his AB degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and graduated with honors from Temple University School of Medicine in 1981, where he was elected to AOA. He completed his training in both internal medicine and nephrology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. In 1987, he joined the faculty of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In 2001, he was appointed head of the Division of Nephrology, Cooper University Hospital, where he also serves as deputy chief of the Department of Medicine. Dr Weisberg has been the recipient of numerous medical student and housestaff teaching awards over the years. In 2004, he was elected to the UMDNJ Master Educators Guild. He has been invited repeatedly to speak at the American Society of Nephrology Annual Update in Nephrology Course, and has lectured widely in his principle area of research, the prevention and medical treatment of acute renal failure. Dr Weisberg is a past president of the Nephrology Society of New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
