Overview
In this engaging talk, Dr. Chopra will reflect on the some of the major landmark discoveries and achievements in medicine in the last 75 years. He will tell the story of the first successful organ transplant performed in 1954 by Dr. Joseph Murray. He will reflect on the discovery of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C - two Nobel award winning achievements, the emergence of Celiac Disease as a prevalent disease world-wide and that of Metabolic Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) as the dominant chronic liver disease world-wide. Looking ahead he will discuss six of the top stories in medicine and biological sciences playing out now and that will come to even greater fruition in the next five years. These include: artificial intelligence, the gut microbiome, CRISPR and Gene editing, Messenger RNA and more.
