But We’ve Always Done It That Way: Top 10 Recent Publications That Should Change Your Practice
Description
Medical evidence changes fast — but practice often doesn't catch up for years. This session reviews ten recent, practice-changing publications spanning cardiology, endocrinology, vaccination, AI-driven clinical tools, pulmonology, and preventive care, breaking down what each study found and what it actually means for day-to-day patient care.
Learning Objectives
- Critically appraise the methodological rigor of new evidence, shifting from accepting study conclusions to independently verifying that the methodology supports the results
- Evaluate the clinical significance of findings by differentiating between statistically significant results and clinically meaningful results, thereby understanding the real-world impact on patient outcomes
- Integrate new findings into clinical practice, ultimately incorporating, modifying, or stopping specific diagnostic or therapeutic strategies based on the evidence presented in the publication, and directly applying them to their patient population
- Identify potential trial limitations that could bias the findings, allowing them to make informed decisions about credibility of the evidence and whether to adopt the new practice
