Biography

Dr. Giardina is Professor of Clinical Medicine at the College of Physician & Surgeons Columbia University. She is recognized nationally as a pioneer in raising concerns about the health of women. In 1996 she was awarded the "Award in Excellence" by George Pataki of New York State for her research advancements on cardiac disease in women and for founding and developing the Center for Women's Health, a unique multidisciplinary p0rogram in women's health at the Columbia University Medical Center. Her research interests encompass concerns about education and assessment of women and minorities regarding cardiovascular risk, the biological effects of medications and hormones, and the unique presentation and management of women with cardiac disease
