Biography

Dr. Habib completed his Cardiology Fellowship and his Internal Medicine Residency Training at Baylor College of Medicine and received Masters degrees in Public Health Epidemiology and Medical Education from UT School of Public Health and Baylor College of Medicine, respectively. He joined the Academic Faculty at Baylor about 20 years ago and currently is Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Associate Chief of Cardiology and Director of Education at the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. In the last 20 years, he served as Principal Investigator for about 50 large-scale clinical trials in hypertension, angina and myocardial infarction and published over 50 manuscripts, reviews, book chapters and abstracts. Dr. Habib was awarded "The most Outstanding Teacher" award multiple times and received Fullbright and Jaworski Faculty Excellence in Teaching Awards, The John P. McGovern Outstanding Teacher Awards in the Clinical and Basic Sciences as well as the Barbara and Corbin Robertson Presidential Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership at Baylor College of Medicine and has lectured extensively in the U.S. and abroad.
