Biography

Dr. Edwin Jacobson is a clinical professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. A nephrologist, his focus has been on mechanisms and treatment of hypertension as well as the relationship of hypertension to cognitive function. Dr. Jacobson sits on the editorial board of the journal Geriatrics, Bone Marrow Transplantation and Clinical Therapeutics. He is the author of numerous scientific papers and chapters, and is the co-author of the textbook Common Medical Diagnosis. Dr. Jacobson has served as principle investigator on numerous national and international clinical trials. He is a member of the American Physiological Society, the American Society of Hypertension and the medical advisory board of the National Kidney Foundation. Dr. Jacobson sits on various committees of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and currently is co-chair of the committee on admissions. Dr. Jacobson also serves as medical director for the Institute for Medical Education, a national provider of continuing medical education.
