Biography

Craig A. Alter, MD is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also Director of the Neuroendocrine Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Alter is the President-Elect of the Pediatric Endocrine Society. Dr. Alter completed his undergraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated summa cum laude while majoring in Mathematics and Chemistry. He attended Harvard Medical School in a joint program with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he graduated cum laude. After residency at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, he did his fellowship training in Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes at CHOP. At CHOP, Dr. Alter won the Fellow Teacher of the Year Award in 1991. Dr. Alter co-wrote and served as Editor of the book, Diabetes Insipidus in Children, a Pocket Guide in 2021.
