Biography

Joshua G. Cahan M.D. is a neurologist specializing in cognitive neurology with a clinical focus on aging, neurodegeneration, and the cognitive sequelae of medical illness. He completed his medical school at Chicago Medical School followed by residency and fellowship training at Northwestern University. Dr. Cahan is actively involved in supporting Northwestern’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center and several clinical trials on Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Cahan’s personal research focuses on clinical outcomes and biomarkers of neurodegeneration. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Dr. Cahan has also been researching, evaluating, and treating post-COVID cognitive complaints. He helped develop a robust cognitive rehabilitation program for this emerging disorder in collaboration with the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, which has been the subject of a profile in the New York Times.
