Biography

Dr. Michelle M. Cloutier is the Chair of the NAEPP Coordinating Committee Expert Panel Working Group that updated the national asthma guidelines. She is Professor Emerita of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the Founding Director of the Asthma Center at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. She is an established investigator funded by the NIH for more than 35 years and has more than 125 publications. She is also an award-winning teacher and is the creator of the evidence-based, Easy Breathing Program, a disease management program for pediatricians and family medicine practitioners that has enrolled more than 200,000 children of whom more than 50,000 have asthma in 5 states. She is a past member of the 2012 Asthma Outcomes Workshop and the NHLBI Asthma Strategic Planning Workgroup and leader of the Implementation Science subgroup. She was a member of the 2007 NHLBI Guideline Implementation Panel. She was awarded the American Thoracic Society Public Service Award in 2016 and the 2015 Connecticut Primary Care Leadership Award.
