Biography

Grace Forde, MD, neurologist, is a pain management specialist and director of Neurological Services for North American Partners in Pain Management at North Shore University Hospital’s Syosset and Valley Stream locations in New York State. She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York, and served a neurology residency at the University of California, San Diego, followed by a fellowship in pain management at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr Forde also completed an observership in New York City at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Academic appointments have included that of assistant professor of neurology at New York University in Manhattan and clinical instructor in the Pain Management Center at UCSF, at which the medical students of the Department of Neurosciences awarded her with the Golden Neuron Award in 1995 for best resident teacher. Dr Forde is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Pain Society, and the Health Care Quality and Cost Containment Commission for the State of New York; she presently serves as secretary for The New York State Pain Society. Dr Forde has served on the advisory boards and speakers bureaus of several pharmaceutical companies. She has been principal investigator on studies concerning migraine, diabetic polyneuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, fibromyalgia, and pain due to cancer as well as chronic noncancer pain. She lectures extensively and is author or co-author of many scientific publications.
