Biography

Dr. Ellen Fremion is an assistant professor of Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She provides primary care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have complex care needs at the Baylor Transition Medicine Clinic. She also is the founder and director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Spina Bifida Transition Program that prepares adolescents with Spina Bifida for transitioning to adult care via self-management intervention, comprehensive care planning, and care coordination. In both clinics, she teaches residents and medical students to care for adolescents and adults with IDD in the outpatient setting. Dr. Fremion is involved in the National Spina Bifida Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control Transition Quality Improvement for Spina Bifida, and is the recipient of a Texas Council for Developmental Disability grant to develop a peer mentorship program focused on transitioning to adult care for the IDD population.
