R. Brian Haynes

Biography

A founder of the evidence-based medicine movement, Dr. Haynes has authored or co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles. He is editor of the ACP Journal Club, one of the leading resources for EBM studies. Dr. Hayne's teaching and research have focused on ways to improve medical care through the dissemination and application of validated health care knowledge. He's especially interested in testing online databases, expert systems, and computer-aided quality assurance tools. On the faculty of McMaster University for the past two decades, Dr. Haynes was also director of the Canadian Cochrane Centre, part of the worldwide Cochrane Collaborative, from 1993-1998. He's received numerous honors, including the Rosenthal Award of the American College of Physicians.
