Biography

Dr. Muriel Jean-Jacques is an academic general internist committed to improving the healthcare experiences and health outcomes of communities that have faced discrimination and disinvestment, yet remain resilient and undeterred in their pursuit of equity, respect, and recognition. As Associate Professor in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Medicine, she has worked to transform the healthcare system through clinical care, research, medical education, and institutional leadership to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion. As a practicing primary care physician, she serves a socioeconomically diverse and medically complex panel of patients. As a health services researcher, she has focused on the evaluation, dissemination, and implementation of healthcare system-focused interventions to address health disparities in preventive and chronic disease care. As a medical educator, she has revamped the medical school’s curricular content regarding health equity and advocacy. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Northwestern Medicine Quality Equity Committee and Associate Vice Chair for Diversity Equity and Inclusion for the Department of Medicine.
