Biography

Dr. Kowey is Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at the Lankenau Hospital Main Line Health System, President of the Main Line Health Heart Center, and the William Wikoff Smith Chair in Cardiovascular Research in Wynnewood, PA. He is also Professor of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, completed his residency training in internal medicine at Penn State University, and was a Fellow in cardiovascular medicine and research at Harvard University School of Public Health, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, and West Roxbury VA Hospital. His principal area of interest is cardiac rhythm disturbances and his group has participated in a large number of pivotal international clinical trials. He has been the recipient of over 150 grants, authored over 300 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and is the co-editor of 3 textbooks regarding cardiac arrhythmia. He is a manuscript review referee for 25 journals and serves on the editorial board of several journals. He has also authored three novels, most recently "Empty Net."
