Biography

Dr. Joynita R. Nicholson, DO, AOBFP, DABOM, FOMA is an award-winning passionate Bariatric Medicine Physician who received her medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. She is board certified in Obesity Medicine and Family Practice and OMT. Dr. Nicholson has compassionately cared for patients with obesity for nearly twenty years and pioneered the 10-year process to integrate it into patient care in her health care market. She became the first Obesity Medical Director of their new medical/surgical weight management center. Dr. Nicholson has received awards for her compassionate care, best bedside manner, for being the “patient’s choice” and at the national Obesity Conference for her obesity advocacy. She is an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association and their first State Advocacy Representative for Virginia who also spearheaded meetings for a STAR group of obesity leaders and physicians across her state. Dr. Nicholson enthusiastically enjoys empowering her patients, colleagues and communities with knowledge about obesity and its associated medical conditions. She has been well received and highly ranked by her peers and participants who attend her transformational presentations and webinars at local, state and national levels.
