Biography

Dr. Nunley is a Professor and Residency Program Director in the Department of Dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. A native of Cleveland Ohio, she received her Bachelor of Science from Purdue University and Doctor of Medicine from Case Western University School of Medicine. She received her postgraduate medical training at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals of Virginia Commonwealth University in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Dermatology; she is Board Certified in all 3 fields. Before pursing a career in dermatology, she was a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine of Virginia Commonwealth University Health System for 4 years, serving as Chief of the Dialysis unit at the McGuire Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center for 3 years. Dr, Nunley’s focus is medical dermatology and she is recognized for her expertise in skin signs of systemic diseases and pregnancy. Over the years she has been an invited speaker for various regional and national meetings. She has served on the American Board of Dermatology in various committees and was appointed as a Director on the Board of Directors in 2014. She is on the editorial board for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, is as an author and editor for the eMedicine on-line journal and has authored various chapters and articles. Her clinical and teaching activities have led to multiple teaching awards from medical students, identified her as a “Top Doc” repetitively in Richmond Magazine, and culminated in her being chosen as the 2007 recipient of the Medical College of Virginia Physicians’ Distinguished Clinician of the Year award.
