Biography

"Dr Pelayo is assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California. He also serves as head of Pediatric Service at the Stanford Sleep Disorders Clinic. His professional interests include the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders in people of all ages, particularly in children with neurologic problems, and the education of health care workers in primary care and the general public regarding the importance of sleep disorders medicine. Dr Pelayo is a diplomate and fellow of the American Board of Sleep Disorders and the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He serves on the National Institutes of Health Sleep Disorders research advisory board and the School of Sleep Medicine’s advisory board. Dr Pelayo has published widely on children’s sleep disorders, among other topics. He has also presented many invited lectures and has been interviewed on television, radio, and the Internet on the topic of sleep disorders. Dr Pelayo received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He served as a resident in pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Center, the Bronx, a fellow in child neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a postdoctoral fellow in sleep disorders medicine at Stanford University."
