Biography

Dr. Victor Rao is the Director of Ultrasound Education at the USC School of Medicine. He is a radiologist by training and his main interests include general, vascular ultrasound and point of care ultrasound. He has also worked as a primary care health provider in rural mission hospitals and has a wide array of clinical exposure including surgery, Ob-Gyn, general medicine, dermatology in addition to radiology. His passion is ultrasound and he loves teaching ultrasound and is currently involved in training medical students, nurse practitioners, EMTs and physicians from various specialties as well as primary care physicians in diagnostic point of care ultrasound. He also has been involved in clinical research in the USA in the use of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to treat BPH, prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma. He has several publications and posters and also wrote and developed the online ultrasound learning modules for www.susme.org/. He is also involved in providing point of care ultrasound training to physicians in Tanzania and medical residents and faculty at the McLeod’s Family Practice training program in Florence, South Carolina and the MDVIP group of physicians.
