Coffee with Chopra: Episode 2

In this episode of Coffee with Chopra, Dr. Sanjiv Chopra will interview family practitioner, Dr. Frank Domino. They will discuss the latest data on vitamin D supplementation, the importance of exercise and how to motivate patients to exercise, new and emerging diets and how these diets can impact patients with certain health issues including diabetes and NAFLD, and new data around proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use and COVID-19. This presentation will provide an overview of the scientific evidence supporting the utility of exercise in maintaining health and decreasing the risk of chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, cancer, coronary heart disease, depression. In addition, we will review the evidence showing that exercise can mitigate the risk incurred by diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Then we will discuss a practical approach for discussing exercise with patients/clients and helping patients achieve successful outcomes with lifestyle modification.

Nutritional needs change as we age. With aging comes muscle loss and anabolic resistance. Maintaining muscle is associated with a multitude of health benefits including better cognitive function, bone health and blood sugar control yet most adults 50 and older have no idea what nutritional patterns they can employ to maintain muscle as well as which specific nutrients and foods to include in their diets to support health and well-being as they age.
