The session "Pain Management in Practice: Key Principles for Primary Care Providers - Part 3" (0.50 hours) is designed to satisfy requirements for MCSR licensees who prescribe controlled substances, as well as CME/CE requirements related to risk management, controlled substances, pain management or addiction/opioids, substance abuse, prescription opioid drugs and alternatives to opioids for CT/RI/NY/NH/NJ, and also meets training requirements for the MATE Act.

  • Review the role of opioids in pain management, including indications, limitations, and considerations for safe use
  • Create personalized pain management plans integrating both opioid and non-opioid therapies
  • Safely initiate, adjust, and discontinue opioid therapy in patients with acute or chronic pain
