The session titled "From Awkward to Awesome: Transforming Sexual Health Conversations" (0.75 hour) is designed to satisfy CE (NP Only) requirements on the topic of Cultural Competency & Humility - Implicit Bias for CA as well as Medical Ethics and/or Professional Responsibility in TX.

Learning Objectives

• Recognize common patient and provider barriers that make sexual health discussions challenging, including stigma, discomfort, and cultural factors
• Demonstrate the use of gender-inclusive language, correct pronouns, and nonjudgmental approaches to foster trust and openness with all patients, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+
• Integrate sexual health questions and discussions into standard patient assessments, making these conversations a regular, expected part of primary care visits
• Employ best practices for taking sexual histories that respect diverse identities, relationships, and experiences, while maintaining patient privacy and dignity
• Utilize evidence-based techniques to navigate sensitive topics—such as sexual dysfunction, trauma, or embarrassment—while supporting patient autonomy and shared decision-making
