After this, I completed medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, where I was born and raised. I completed my Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois where I also served as a chief resident. I then completed my Pulmonary & Critical Care fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas in 2015 where I remain on staff as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Clinically I am on staff at the Michael E DeBakey Medical Center (MEDVAMC) where I provide patient care and medical education as a pulmonologist & intensivist. In May 2021, I implemented the Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) program at the MEDVAMC for which I currently remain as the director. More recently, this LCS program and I have been incorporated into the VA Lung Precision Oncology Program (LPOP) which aims to give clinicians a range of tools to proactively increase access to lung cancer screening and treat lung cancer for Veterans throughout VISN 16.
