Biography

Sha L. McCoy, DNP, ACNS-BC, AAHIVS is a board-certified Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and an HIV Specialist recognized by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. She currently serves as a Principal Medical Science Liaison for HIV Treatment and Prevention at Gilead Sciences, Inc., where she collaborates with healthcare professionals across Houston and surrounding counties to address evolving clinical challenges, advance evidence-based HIV care, and reduce region-specific gaps in South Texas. For nearly two decades, Dr. McCoy has demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering comprehensive care to underserved populations disproportionately impacted by HIV. She previously served as an advanced practice nurse with the University of Texas Medical Branch Correctional Managed Care Program, where she provided holistic HIV care to incarcerated individuals within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In addition, she has extensive experience providing HIV treatment and prevention in a large Houston-based Federally Qualified Health Center, with specialized expertise in gender-affirming hormone therapy for transgender individuals living with HIV. Dr. McCoy earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from UTHealth Houston’s Cizik School of Nursing, where her doctoral work focused on improving triglyceride monitoring and management among African Americans living with HIV. She completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees at The University of Texas at Austin, and is a lifetime member of the Texas Exes Alumni Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
