Biography

Christine A. Stamatos, DNP, ANP-C, has been a distinguished Rheumatology Nurse Practitioner since 2002, following her graduation from Stony Brook University with a post-master's certificate in adult nursing. She subsequently attained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, dedicating her research to non-pharmacologic self-management strategies for chronic pain. Throughout her career, Christine has made impactful contributions to the care of critically ill and rheumatology patients across esteemed institutions, including the Army Nurse Corps, Washington Hospital Center, Hackensack University Medical Center, and for the past 12 years, Northwell Health’s Division of Rheumatology. As the founder and director of the Fibromyalgia and Long COVID Clinic, she is committed to enhancing the quality of life for patients grappling with chronic pain and fatigue. In addition to her clinical work, Christine has actively volunteered with the American College of Rheumatology, focusing on improving the onboarding and retention of NPs and PAs in rheumatology. She has led numerous professional development programs for nurses and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, Columbia Union College, Stony Brook University School of Nursing, and currently at Hofstra School of Nursing. Dr. Stamatos has also published and lectured extensively in the fields of critical care and rheumatology for over 25 years, with research interests that include geriatric trauma, chronic pain, and arthritis.
