Biography
As a Regional Medical Director and Expert with Gilead Sciences US Medical Affairs, Dr Trinh leads medical education initiatives and research opportunities to drive impact and improve health outcomes in people with HIV and people benefiting from HIV prevention. Before joining Gilead in 2022 Dr. Trinh was head of the department of Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine at The Polyclinic in Seattle, Washington – a large multispecialty outpatient focused care delivery organization. There, Dr Trinh was also medical director of employee health & infection control and was the lead subject matters expert for the organization during the COVID pandemic 2020-2022. In addition to a busy ambulatory practice specializing in HIV treatment, prevention and STI care, Dr Trinh’s practice included a busy inpatient service affiliated with Swedish Providence Health System, one of the largest hospital systems in the region. Dr Trinh received Seattle Met magazine’s Top Doc designation every from 2016-2022. Dr. Trinh is originally from the East Coast. Born in Brooklyn NY and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he received his Medical Degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and then completed his General Internal Medicine Residency training at Brown University in Providence, RI and then moved to Seattle for his Infectious Disease Fellowship through the University of Washington where he also earned his MPH in Global health epidemiology. Dr. Trinh has spent time in Nairobi Kenya as part of an international team that has studied and published on cervical dysplasia screening and treatment in women living with HIV in Kenya. Dr Trinh is ABIM board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and is a certified HIV ExpertTM (AAHIVE) through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). He is currently an affiliate faculty member at the University of Texas Dell medical school and is a volunteer attending at the CD Doyle clinic – a medical student run outreach clinic serving the unhoused communities of Austin, TX. Dr Trinh is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and live music lover. He reads voraciously and is working on writing his first book. He recently picked up Pickleball at his local YMCA where he enjoys getting humbled by local seniors. Dr Trinh lives on a former garlic-farm in East Austin with his wife Ellie and his pit-bull Dottie.
