Biography
Yasmin Uzamere is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in 2018, where she developed a strong interest in women’s preventive health and community education. Through sponsorship from UHF/NMF, she founded the #WomensHealthMatters Initiative to provide nutrition and exercise education to underserved women in Nashville. Dr. Uzamere completed her Family Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine, serving as chief resident in her final year, and stayed on as faculty after graduation. She now provides primary care at BCM and is actively involved in medical education as a PBL facilitator, POM preceptor, and ACTA faculty member. She also serves as a provider at Baylor’s Teen Clinic, continuing her focus on women’s and adolescent health. Outside of work, she’s an avid reader, a party planner, and a frequent traveler—usually accompanied by her NICU–fellow husband, her 4-year-old ballerina, and her spirited 7-month-old baby who runs the household.
