The Great Imposter: Type 1 Masquerading as Type 2 Diabetes
Description
This session will combine didactic and case-based content to help educate primary care providers on the key characteristics that differentiate type 1 from type 2 diabetes among adult patients, improve clinicians’ diagnostic accuracy, and ensure that patients with type 1 diabetes are treated promptly in an appropriate manner.
Learning Objectives
- Identify characteristics that differentiate type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) from type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among adult patients
- Assess methods to more accurately diagnose T1DM in adults
- Determine the impact of misdiagnosis and mismanagement of T1DM in adults
