When Antidepressants Aren’t Enough: The Role of Adjunctive Atypical Antipsychotics in Major Depressive Disorder

Industry Theater 1, Ballroom A, Level 1

Description

This educational program addresses the implications of leaving residual symptoms untreated in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) receiving antidepressant therapy alone. We will review the treatment challenges associated with unresolved symptoms and evaluate the potential role of adding an atypical antipsychotic as an adjunctive strategy. Clinical trial evidence supporting an adjunctive therapy will be reviewed to guide treatment planning for patients with MDD.
