Overview

This workshop is designed to sharpen the musculoskeletal diagnostic skills of primary care physicians through a focused, efficient review of hip and ankle physical examination techniques. Participants will gain practical, evidence-based methods to evaluate common injuries and conditions in these regions—skills immediately applicable in primary care, urgent care, and sports medicine settings.

Learning Objectives

  • Perform three high-yield exam maneuvers for both the hip and ankle with correct technique
  • Identify key anatomical landmarks and their clinical relevance
  • Differentiate intra-articular from extra-articular and soft-tissue sources of pain
  • Apply exam findings to guide imaging, referral, and management decisions
  • Integrate these techniques into efficient, evidence-based patient assessments
