Fad Diets and NutritionThis session was recorded at the Pri-Med Southwest Annual Conference
This talk will discuss the evidence behind optimal diets for weight loss and cardiometabolic health. Fad diets gain popularity via word-of-mouth, celebrity endorsements, media coverage and viral social media posts with their promise of rapid weight loss and optimal health. By categorizing these diets by eating patterns and understanding the evidence behind them, clinicians can help patients navigate risks and benefits of various fad diets and how they relate to patients’ health goals.
